Dinner Rolls

What?!?! A man in the kitchen?!?!

I love to cook, bake, and do whatever in the kitchen… well maybe not cleanup when I’m done. 🙂

For last thanksgiving I made some homemade rolls mainly because it’s fun, and one less thing for the family to buy. We’re not health nuts, but we are conscious of some healthy moments and what better way than to bake your own stuff.

I won’t get into my recipe too much but there are lots of them out there. At thanksgiving I used this dough recipe:

Now what I did is I made one batch of dough exactly as it is in the recipe, and a 2nd batch with 1/2 whole wheat flour. I did worry that the whole wheat batch would rise differently but I guess the white flour helped it rise without adding gluten.

When you’ve mixed, risen, kneeded and risen, you’re ready to go.

I rolled the entire 2 batches of dough into 1″ balls (That’s a lot of work). Then I lightly greased my muffin tins and placed 3 balls into each cup. Some rolls were all white, some were all whole wheat but some others were both.

I then brushed the top with a little butter and put in the oven until the tops started to brown.

They were warm, tasty and a nice treat for all for our family dinner.
